“Inequality for All”

UntitledInequality for All is a great video created by Robert Reich, former Labor Secretary and professor, who makes a compelling case for growing the middle class. One statistic cited in the video is staggering: The richest 400 Americans have more wealth than the bottom 150 million Americans. In the video a $30 million per year CEO of the largest bedding company in America who pays less than 15% in taxes laments the concentration of wealth. He said  the CEO that makes 800 times the average worker’s salary can’t use 800 times the number of pillows the average worker buys and that same concept applies to other goods. We therefore need many more average (middle class) workers to buy the stuff that makes for a strong economy. He says his extra money is invested in hedge funds which do little to create jobs. The video is available from Netflix  only on DVD’s not streaming. If not a Netflix DVD subscriber you can get a free month trial for no cost if you cancel before the end of the 30 day free period. Thanks to my granddaughter Alison, who told me about the video which was shown to her class at Truman University.
