Last night, America watched Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off in their first presidential debate.
Tonight, FRONTLINE brings you the in-depth, inside story of what has shaped Trump and Clinton as people and as politicians. The Choice 2016 – our dual biography of this year’s major-party presidential candidates – premieres tonight at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST on PBS stations and online.
Filmmaker Michael Kirk and his team have spent months making this two-hour documentary – identifying formative moments in both candidates’ lives, conducting dozens of multi-hour interviews with people who were there (as well as authors, journalists and Washington insiders), and gathering archival footage and primary source documents in the candidates’ own words.
It’s the same method FRONTLINE has used since the first installment of The Choice in 1988. Our aim is to present deeply reported, fair and unvarnished portraits of the candidates.
We hope you will watch this important and revealing film tonight.
Check your local PBS station for airtimes, or watch on our website, our Facebook page, or our YouTube channel beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
