Before my piano lesson yesterday I happened to catch the Meramec band rehearsing for their free concert today: Sunday, 4/29/12, at 3:00 PM. Click below for a short sample and know it was recorded on a phone camera; they sound much better than the video.

Above video was taken on my phone yesterday evening and the quality isn’t the best and the video is short but it gives you an idea of how nice the St Charles Concert Band can play. For a list of their other concerts click the “Free Concert Calendar for 2011” on the top right of this page.

Ride for Wishes

June 6, 2011

Yesterday I rode the Hog in the Ride for Wishes. It supports Make a Wish Foundation. Most know that Make a Wish Foundation makes wishes come true for kids with life threatening illnesses. The ride was a blast. It was police escorted from start to finish. They even shut down the Interstate for us – all entrances and exits. I saw two cars sneak onto the interstate and they were promptly pulled over to the side by a Harley riding cop. The route was great and it looked like we had a line of motorcycles almost 5 miles long. Below is a slide show of some highlights of the ride. I received the award for the oldest rider and have been thinking about it since receiving it. I cannot figure out if that is a good thing or a bad thing; well at least by the grace of God I am still vertical. Also, in the last slide is a pic of my next door neighbor’s band, Rocketsauce. If you would like to hear Rocketsauce just click on the bottom link of this post.

Man does not live by bread alone and we all need a little culture in our lives so the city elders of Webster Groves contracted with the Funky Butt Brass Band to elucidate us on the glory of music – a short video of their effort is below:
