As a small plane pilot for 10 years with 1600 take-off and landings completed I always wondered what it would be like to land on a busy highway. Many people are not aware the law provides complete latitude to a pilot in an emergency i.e. anywhere is fine. A professional pilot asked me if I would set down in front of the closest car or behind it. I wasn’t sure so he said always land in front of it because the driver will do anything to keep from running into the plane. On the other hand, if you land behind it the driver will hit the brakes as soon as he sees a plane in the rearview mirror. Thank the Lord I never had to test his theory
