“Be careful what you protest”

July 6, 2011

Above is the admonition my friend Don B sent me with the below link. The linked article is about a motorcyclist who was riding with a group that was protesting a helmet law. He was thrown from the cycle, hit his head and was killed. My response is below the link.

“I saw it – sad story. The leader of the protest rationalized the tragic event my saying motorcycle riders accept higher risk for the price of riding which has some truth in it. However, in some cases where long-term disability is incurred society either through public aid or higher insurance premiums must partially bear the financial burden. Our great Missouri legislature in their “infinite wisdom” passed a bill that allowed no helmet riding. The Governor vetoed it and I e-mailed him thanking him for his action and praising him saying “thank God somebody in Jefferson City has their sanity” so I will not likely join any such protest.”

The Dragon

July 30, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I rode The Dragon which is located in Tennessee and North Carolina on US Route 129. It is one of the better motorcycle rides in America and riders from all over the USA and even the world visit Deal’s Gap to ride it. I have created a DVD complete with antidotes, narration, sound, still images and of course video of my ride. It is on the page entitled “The Dragon”. Simply click the link at the bottom of this post to see it. If you do check it out please send me an e-mail with any suggestions because I hope to sell a few of the DVD’s to motorcycle enthusiasts. Thanks for your interest and keep the rubber side down.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation a big factor

April 22, 2010

Not specifically cited in the linked article is Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). I took their basic class and advanced class and know I would now be dead without it. They are awesome courses. Missouri does not but some states pay for the courses
