I have a brain

July 25, 2013

For all of you “doubting Thomases” I have a brain. The below “Brain Activity” test proved it. On Monday, 7/22/13 I suffered a T.I.A.: Transient Ischemic Attack and was required to undergo 7 major tests and the below was one of them. Quoting from the St Lukes’ release papers “The spell you had today is called a T.I.A (mini-stroke) and is caused by a temporary decrease of blood flow to a part of you brain. T.I.A usually occurs in persons with atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). This happens when a blood clot forms along the lining of the carotid artery (main artery in your neck), breaks off and travels up to the brain. This blocks blood flow , which causes the symptoms you had. After a short while, the small clot dissolves, blood flows again and symptoms disappear. Person with atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) are a higher risk for TIA and stroke.”

The hospital stay is the reason there were no new posts for a couple of days; I hope you will forgive me. I hope to be back on track soon

Tip: Don’t do as I did and drive yourself to the hospital; call 911.

You only have 3 hours to prevent you from becoming a vegetable. If you call 911 you will receive oxygen and other helpful medications much quicker. Also through radio contact the ambulance will have the hospital ready to begin treatment as soon as you hit the door; It was 1 1/2 hours before I received any medical intervention.
